The Dress Code: Patriotic (June 1942)

"When the War Production Board announced certain specifications of clothes containing wool men will wear in the Fall, they did more than achieve their objective of conserving materials. The details of jackets, trousers and outer coats are in line with the general trends already visible on fashion's horizon. Jackets are to be shorter . . . patch pockets are out . . . the required narrower trousers without cuffs conform to a good standard of dress . . . tailcoats, double breasted dinner jackets, and cutaway coats are no longer in production."
